This site displays a lot of financial data using a heat map. It is a brilliant way to dig into a massive amount of information in real time.
MarineTraffic.com
This site floored me. It is a real time map of all the commercial marine traffic in the world. You can zoom into any port and click on a ship to learn more about it and its destination.
WeatherSpark.com
WeatherSpark is a beautiful weather dashboard loaded with data. Now only does it provide current weather data and forecasts, but you can go back and review historical data to the late 1940s. What to know what the wind speed was the hour your were born? That data is there. One of the features I love on the site is below the map. There is a button that allows you to “play back” the last 6 hours of weather.
